first day in Manila…

the first flight on Asiana airlines to Korea was pretty good cuz it was 12:30AM and we were all so tired, so we slept through most of it. i watched a couple of movies here and there. then the next flight to Manila was really rough. it’s as if the pilot was distracted by all the clashing languages being spoken on the plane. lol.

my aunt and uncle picked us up with their two friends from the NAIA airport and the smell of the air confirmed i was back in the Philippines. brought back good memories, and got me really excited to be here. we packed two cars with 8 of our luggages and we were on our way to our place in Greenbelt where we will be staying for the rest of the time that my family is still here.

the traffic was insane, of course, and each car was within a foot away from the other— that’s no exaggeration. i usually would get scared of that kind of thing, but out here in the Philippines it’s normal.

our room is nice, with a kitchen and a small fridge to keep us all fed (we went grocery shopping last night) and a small bedroom with a bed big enough to fit my mom and sisters, while i sleep on this thin pink foldable mattress on the floor of the living room area. the weather is just how i remembered, never needing a jacket during the nighttime and making you break a sweat when you’re literally just standing outside during the day.

i bought a phone yesterday at the Park Square mall so i could text family and friends out here without paying a shit ton for each message. i got the Samsung Galaxy Text over the Blackberry Curve, which costs about three times the price of the former. i immediately hit up my old friend, Randolph Permejo, who insisted to pick me up from Greenbelt to go to a party— but i was dead tired by the time we got back from the mall.

i woke up at 3:10AM and tried to use the internet, with a connection i’ve been stealing from a neighbors, but it didn’t work. so i picked up “The Hunger Games” book and finished it. i’m not a slow reader, but i do like to read paragraphs over and over until i create a vivid image in my head of what’s going on. i can’t wait to start “Catching Fire”. i know i won’t be able to put it down. this is the first book series i’ve read (actually first book at all) since “The Series of Unfortunate Events” and that was back in high school.

anyway, don’t have much planned today but i hope to see Randolph. also, i hear there’s this club out here called Republik or Republiq or something. Ericka Villongco (sings with Krissysings from YouTube) invited me out! yay, something to do! we’ll see.

hope ya’ll have a great day. miss you all in Cali.
